Hogan Lovells Scores Highly in 2018 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards

New York, 14 December 2018 – For the third consecutive year, Hogan Lovells has achieved recognition in The FT Innovative Lawyers North America 2018 awards, produced by the paper in collaboration with RSG Consulting.

Hogan Lovells achieved highly commended and commended ratings in several categories:

  • Highly Commended in “Managing and Developing Talent” for the creation of a leadership training simulation for new equity partners to develop their decision-making. A computer simulation gives the participants real-time feedback as it runs them through 60 different types of strategic decisions as they compete in teams to win clients.
  • Highly Commended in “Managing Complexity and Scale” for our work on behalf of client Lightbridge, whom we advised on a 50-50 joint venture with energy group Framatome, enabling the production and commercialization of a more efficient and safer nuclear fuel while navigating cross-jurisdictional intellectual property and tax laws.
  • Commended in “Managing and Developing Talent” for the creation of a new continuous feedback program designed to replace annual performance reviews. The firm rolled the new review process out globally to its lawyers in just two years.
  • Commended in “New Business and Service Delivery Models” for our work on categorizing our global regulatory work streams according to speed and type of work needed and allocating different teams, technologies, and legal project management methods to suit each stream.
  • Commended in “Accessing New Market and Capital” for our work on the creation of Agepro, an infrastructure agency for the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. The firm created an independent legal framework for infrastructure and real estate operations, facilitating greater investment in Mexican infrastructure projects.
  • Commended in “Rule of Law and Access to Justice” for our work representing the city of Philadelphia in a lawsuit against the Trump administration over the unconstitutionality of withdrawing grants as a result of perceived non co-operation with federal immigration policies, achieving a permanent injunction for the city. The resolution sets a standard for cities that wish to protect all residents, regardless of citizenship status.

In addition, Hogan Lovells ranked highly overall, achieving a top ten ranking in the “Business of Law” category and earning a spot in top 20 for “Legal Expertise.”
