Allison Wuertz combines a practical, problem-solving approach with legal analysis and an understanding of her clients' businesses and goals. She has significant experience handling securities, financial products, and complex commercial litigation.
Allison defends financial institutions in civil litigations involving complex financial products, including credit default and interest rate swaps, commercial mortgage backed securities, hedge-fund linked derivatives, and reverse repurchase agreements. Allison has handled government investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, and the New York Attorney General on behalf of several large financial institutions.
Allison also regularly represents companies facing shareholder litigation, including securities class actions under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Securities Act of 1933, derivative suits, and M&A litigation. These matters have involved a wide variety of clients, including companies in the financial, pharmaceutical, digital advertising, chemical, and communications industries.
On a pro bono basis, Allison has sought and secured asylum for Tibetan refugees fleeing persecution. Allison has also defended prisoners' civil rights and represented the City of New York and members of the NYPD. While in law school, Allison was a member and editor on the moot court board, member and associate editor of the Fordham Urban Law Journal, and worked with Lincoln Square Legal Services to provide legal representation to clients who could not afford adequate representation.
