Jamie Rogers is a solicitor advocate who is widely recognized for his extensive legal and commercial knowledge in the (re)insurance industry.
He routinely deploys this acting on a broad spectrum of contentious and regulatory matters in the sector. As the author of Lloyd's Market guidance on this subject, Jamie is an expert on the application of financial crime legislation in the (re)insurance market – he is the key contact for AML, anti-bribery and economic and trade sanctions advice and regularly speaks at conferences and industry institutions on these issues. Jamie's contentious practice also focuses on claims advice and coverage and agency disputes across various classes of (re)insurance business.
He also regularly defends brokers in professional indemnity disputes. With deep operational experience gained from working in-house at major broking and underwriting institutions, Jamie also advises on all business-as-usual operational legal matters for (re)insurers and brokers alike. This encompasses advising on the regulation of insurance in the UK, the structure and drafting of policy wordings (as well as non-traditional reinsurance structures), distribution and commercial arrangements, as well as other agreements common to the sector. Having spent significant time in the market, Jamie also advises on the conduct of business at Lloyd's. He also has experience in acting on insurance business transfers under Part VII of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000.
Legal 500 2015 reports that clients praise Jamie for his "clear written advice...and strong commercial knowledge" and he was also recommended for economic and trade sanctions advice in the 2014 edition of this publication.
Legal 500 2017 reports that in addition to D&O, professional indemnity, coverage and agency disputes, he is well regarded for advising on economic and trade sanctions in the insurance and reinsurance market.
Chambers UK 2018 reports that Jamie is a highly regarded associate who is skilled in a range of coverage disputes involving the Lloyd's market. He also does a considerable amount of work with leading brokers and underwriters in the industry. Clients say: "He is incredibly intelligent - his particular skill is interpreting and applying complex law and regulations to factual matters, then explaining it very clearly so we can pass it on to the business. He is very commercial and offers clear advice."
