Experienced in cross-border matters, José Luis Vittor counsels and represents some of the world's largest banks, corporations, corporate boards, and top management. He handles commercial and corporate transactions, project development and finance, cross-border banking, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and direct foreign investments in and out of Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the United States.

José Luis co-leads one of the Hogan Lovells Oil & Gas practice groups and is an officer and council member of the Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law Section of the International Bar Association. He is a former president and member of the board of the Instituto Argentino del Petróleo y Gas, Houston, an independent business relations trade organization comprising multinational energy companies. José Luis chairs the Water Law Committee of the International Bar Association and the Water Group at Hogan Lovells.

Represented an oil and gas company in the negotiation of a US$3bn LPG supply arrangement with a Houston-based company.

Representing Australis Power in negotiations with the developer of an LNG terminal in Corpus Christi, Texas, and in the development of LNG facilities.

Represented Refinería del Pacífico Eloy Alfaro CEM in the development and financing of a US$10bn oil refining complex in Ecuador.

Represented an oil and gas company in the potential development of a pipeline between Colombia and Venezuela.

Represented Colombian fertilizer company, Abocol SA, in the sale of its controlling interest to Yara International.

Represented Acon Investments on the acquisition of Vetra Energía S.L., one of the largest privately held independent oil producers in Colombia.

Represented Ecopetrol SA in the Barranca Bermeja Refinery Project.

Represented a Panamanian energy company in the negotiation of an LPG supply arrangement with Trafigura AG in Houston, Texas.
